ABOUT DITTE LINDBERG MORTENSEN
Ditte Lindberg Mortensen is a Danish ceramicist based in Helsingør. Her work is characterized by organic shapes, rhythmic patterns and tactile surfaces, where the traces of the hand are left clearly visible.
Ditte truly found her way into ceramics during an extended stay on Bornholm. With a background as an antiques dealer, she also has a natural eye for form, history and good craftsmanship.
In her work, she seeks calm, repetition and the intuitive meeting between hands and clay – often allowing the form to emerge along the way.
Ditte works closely and intuitively with the material, often letting her hands and the clay find the shape together. Her creative world revolves around calm, rhythm and repetition – and vases that invite you to touch them.
For Knabstrup, the collaboration is an opportunity to bring a new artistic perspective into a strong ceramic heritage. Ditte was already familiar with Knabstrup Keramik from her years as an antiques dealer, when vintage Knabstrup vases would regularly cross her path.
The result is a lively meeting of ceramic heritage, the traces of the hand and a contemporary design language – created with respect for both material and craft.
